DMCA & Copyright Policy
Where we stand on copyright
ALPESMOTORACING lives on both sides of copyright. We produce original journalism that gets scraped and republished without permission more often than we would like, and we work daily with material that belongs to others: press photographs, official documents, broadcast moments, social media posts. So this policy is written from experience, in both directions, and we apply the same standard we ask others to apply to us.
How we use third-party material
- Press material. Manufacturer and team press kits, images and specification sheets are distributed for editorial use, and we use them for exactly that, with the obvious attribution.
- Official documents. Stewards’ decisions, entry lists, homologation papers and recall notices are quoted and excerpted as the public-interest documents they are.
- Quotation and criticism. We quote what is necessary for news reporting, review and criticism, attribute it, and link the source. We do not reproduce entire articles, galleries or broadcasts.
- Embeds. Social media posts and videos are embedded through the platforms’ own embedding tools, which display content under the poster’s control; deleting the original kills the embed.
- Licensed and own material. Photography we shot, graphics we made, and images we licence are used under their respective terms.
If we have made a mistake with your material, and mistakes happen in a newsroom, we would genuinely rather hear about it informally first: support@alpesmotoracing.com, subject DMCA. Most cases end with a fixed credit, a licence conversation, or removal within a day, no formalities required.
Filing a formal takedown notice
If you prefer the formal route, or the informal one failed, send a notice to support@alpesmotoracing.com with DMCA in the subject, containing:
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed, or a representative list if there are several;
- The exact URL(s) on alpesmotoracing.com where the material appears; “your site uses my photos” is not locatable, a link is;
- Your name, and contact details we can actually reach you at;
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by the rights holder, an agent, or the law;
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them;
- Your physical or electronic signature.
Complete notices are acted on promptly: we remove or disable access to the material while we assess, and we notify whoever supplied it if it came from outside the team. Incomplete notices get a reply telling you what is missing rather than a silent bin.
Counter-notices
If material you supplied was removed and you believe the removal was mistaken, because you hold the rights, have a licence, or the use is lawful quotation, send a counter-notice to the same address containing the removed material’s identification and prior URL, your contact details, a statement under penalty of perjury of your good-faith belief that removal was a mistake or misidentification, consent to the jurisdiction of the competent courts under the laws applicable where the operator is established, and your signature. We forward counter-notices to the original complainant, and may restore the material if the complainant does not pursue the matter within a reasonable statutory period.
Abuse of this process
Takedown mechanisms exist to protect creators, not to erase criticism. Notices that misrepresent rights, target lawful quotation or review, or attempt to use copyright to remove an unflattering but lawful story will be refused, and the law provides remedies against knowingly false notices. A bad review of your product is not an infringement of anything.
Repeat infringers
Where material is contributed to the site by third parties, we terminate the contributions of repeat infringers. Given how little third-party contribution we run, this clause has had a quiet life, and we intend to keep it that way.
Our content on your site
The mirror case: our articles are our copyright, and wholesale republication, automated scraping and dataset ingestion without permission are infringements, as our terms of service spell out. Quote us with a link and we are delighted. Lift the whole piece and we will use the same procedures described above, with the same seriousness we grant incoming notices.
