Privacy Policy
The short version
ALPESMOTORACING is a news site, not a data business. You can read everything on alpesmotoracing.com without creating an account, and for most visitors the personal data story begins and ends with standard server logs, analytics in aggregate, and the cookies described in our cookie policy. We collect what a website needs to function and to pay for itself with advertising, and we have no interest in collecting more. This page describes the full picture honestly, including the parts, like ad networks, where third parties are involved.
What we collect, and where it comes from
Server logs
Like every website, our servers record technical data when you load a page: your IP address, the time of the request, the page requested, the referring page, and your browser’s user-agent string. We use these logs for security, abuse prevention and debugging. They rotate on a short schedule and are not used to build profiles of readers.
Analytics
We use analytics to understand which stories are read, how readers arrive, and roughly where in the world our audience is. We look at this data in aggregate: “the MotoGP qualifying report did well in Italy” is the level of granularity we care about. We do not attempt to identify individual readers from analytics data, and we have configured our tools to avoid storing more than they need.
If you write to support@alpesmotoracing.com, we receive your address and whatever you chose to tell us. Correspondence is kept for as long as it is operationally useful, longer where it documents a correction, a legal notice or a confidential source relationship, and is not added to any marketing list. We do not sell, rent or trade email addresses, full stop.
Advertising
Display advertising is how this site pays its bills, and ad networks may use cookies or similar technologies to measure and, depending on your consent choices, personalise ads. This is the one area where data about your visit reaches third parties, and it is under your control: the consent choices you make on your first visit govern it, and you can revisit them at any time. The mechanics are described in the cookie policy.
What we do not collect
- No accounts, no passwords, no profiles. There is nothing to sign up for.
- No payment data. We sell nothing directly on the site; affiliate purchases happen entirely on the retailer’s site under the retailer’s privacy policy.
- No precise location. We see country-level geography in analytics, nothing finer.
- No data brokers. We neither buy audience data nor sell reader data, in either direction.
Legal bases and your rights
Where data protection law applies to you, our bases for processing are legitimate interest (running, securing and improving a news website), consent (advertising cookies and any optional features that ask first), and legal obligation (records we are required to keep). You have rights over your data, and we honour them without making you fight for it:
- Access: ask what we hold about you, and we will tell you. For most readers the honest answer is “nothing that identifies you”.
- Correction and deletion: ask us to fix or erase personal data we hold, such as old correspondence, and we will, unless we are required to keep it.
- Objection and restriction: object to processing based on legitimate interest and we will stop unless there is a compelling reason not to.
- Consent withdrawal: change your cookie choices at any time; withdrawal is as easy as the original consent.
- Complaint: you may complain to the data protection authority competent for you. We would appreciate the chance to fix the problem first, but that is your call, not a condition.
To exercise any of these, write to support@alpesmotoracing.com with PRIVACY in the subject line. We may need to verify that you are who you say you are before acting on a request, which is a protection for you, not an obstacle.
A note on people in the news
As a news publication we process personal data of riders, team personnel, executives and other public figures in the course of journalism: names, results, quotes, photographs from public events. This journalistic processing is subject to the editorial safeguards described in our editorial standards rather than to the reader-data practices above, and where the law provides a journalism exemption, we rely on it. If you are the subject of a story and believe something is inaccurate, the corrections policy is the right door.
Retention
Server logs are kept briefly and rotated. Analytics data is retained in aggregate form. Email correspondence is kept while it is useful and deleted when it is not, with the exceptions noted above for corrections records, legal notices and source protection. We do not keep data on the theory that it might be interesting someday.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, access to our systems is restricted to the editors who need it, and we keep the software under the site updated. No one can honestly promise perfect security, so we make the more useful promise: we hold little, and what we hold, we protect. If we ever suffer a breach involving personal data, we will say so plainly and promptly.
Children
alpesmotoracing.com is a general-audience news site and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children, and a site with no accounts gives them little to hand us. If you believe a child has sent us personal data by email, write to us and we will delete it.
International readers
We are read worldwide and our infrastructure and service providers may process data in countries other than yours. Where data crosses borders, we rely on our providers’ compliance mechanisms and on the safeguards described here. Nothing about crossing a border changes our commitments on this page.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy in any way that matters, we will change the text here and note the update; we will not quietly swap the rules. Continued use of the site after a change means the current version applies. This policy was last reviewed in 2026.
