Ownership & Funding
Who owns this site
ALPESMOTORACING, published at alpesmotoracing.com, is owned and operated by the small independent team of editors who produce it. There is no parent media group, no manufacturer money, no team or championship stake, no betting sponsor and no outside investor with a seat at the editorial table. The people who decide what gets covered are the people who own the site, and nobody stands behind them holding a different agenda. In an industry where several major outlets share corporate ancestry with the companies they cover, we consider this arrangement our single biggest editorial asset.
We publish as a team rather than as individual personalities, but ownership and control sit entirely inside that team, and this page will be updated within days, not months, if that ever changes. A change of ownership you learn about from someone else would be a breach of this policy.
Where the money comes from
Running the site costs real money: hosting, tools, travel to races and launches, and the hours of the people who write it. The income covering those costs comes from exactly two streams:
- Display advertising. Ads served on the site through advertising networks, paid by impression or click. Advertisers buy audience, not influence; most campaigns are booked programmatically and the advertiser has never spoken to us at all. What advertisers can and cannot buy is detailed on the advertise page.
- Affiliate commissions. Some links to gear, parts and products earn us a commission if you buy after clicking, at no extra cost to you. Pages containing affiliate links carry a disclosure, and the mechanics are described in our cookie policy.
That is the complete list. No paywall, no manufacturer retainers, no consultancy for companies we cover, no sponsored rankings, no selling reader data, which our privacy policy forbids anyway.
How affiliate money is kept away from verdicts
The obvious risk with affiliate revenue is grade inflation: praise what pays. Our controls are structural rather than aspirational. Reviews are written and concluded before anyone checks whether an affiliate programme exists for the product. Verdicts are never adjusted for commission rates, and negative reviews of affiliate-linked products run exactly as written; the commission on a product we told you not to buy is zero, and we are fine with that. Group test winners are chosen by the testing, and if you ever catch a pattern suggesting otherwise, we want the email: support@alpesmotoracing.com.
What manufacturers provide, and what it buys
Like every motorcycle outlet, we accept press launches, loan bikes and review samples, because without them there is no independent testing at all; the alternative is reviewing from brochures. What this hospitality buys is access, and only access. It is disclosed in the coverage it produced, per our editorial standards, and it creates no obligation: launch hosts get criticised in launch reports, loan bikes get returned with unflattering verdicts attached, and samples do not convert into scores. No manufacturer, importer or PR agency has ever been promised favourable coverage in exchange for anything, and none ever will be.
What we refuse
- Payment for coverage, positive or negative, including “review fees” and paid placements dressed as editorial;
- Undisclosed sponsored content, in any format;
- Funding from betting operators tied to editorial content;
- Investment or ownership stakes from manufacturers, teams, championships or their holding companies;
- Exclusives conditioned on tone.
Why we tell you all this
Trust in motorsport media is low for earned reasons, and a funding page full of vague reassurance would deserve the scepticism it got. The test we invite you to apply is simple: read our coverage of the companies whose ads appear beside it, and judge whether the wall holds. If you find a place where it did not, our corrections policy and inbox are open, and this page is the standard you get to hold us to.
